Ok I’m going to stop talking so much about my costumes and what I want to change, since I’ll want to make a separate post about that later. But anyway – on to Saturday pics!
Thank god for Ash! She came over to help us finish getting ready that morning – I was getting Starfire on for the very first time, and Chase was putting his clone on. There were costume malfunctions left and right, and she was having to hop back and forth between the two of us helping us fix things.
We got to the park not too long before step-off, so Ash left us to go find a good spot to take pictures. And take pictures she did!! Over 200 – there would have been more, but my camera locked up towards the end and she wasn’t sure how to fix it.
Here’s me…
And Chase, he’s the clone behind the banner.
There’s a lot more of the parade in my flickr, of course.
I was pretty early on in the parade, with the superheroes. I got my bottle of water, and then I stupidly followed a group of parade people around the building instead of going in the door right there, so by the time I got inside I was WORN OUT. Since most people were still outside watching the parade, I went down into the bottom of the Marriott, found a chair, and just sat and composed myself and drank my water for a while.
It was nearly a half hour before any of my group found me – Cath found me first, then Ash, then Chase finally came in. Cath kindly got me a snack and we hung around down in the bottom lobby until Chase came back after getting changed, then went out and took some Starfire pics so I could change out of it.
Then it was up to the room to get that costume off. We rested for a while, and I got Scarlet Witch on for the Marvel shoot. We went and tried to have lunch – but it was getting too close to 2.
So, Chase had just gotten his chinese food – Cath was off getting Chic-fil-a for the 3 of us. We realised we were going to have to go, so Chase gave his box to Ash and we agreed to meet back up in our room with the food… Chase went and told Cath we were headed on over to the shoot.
Well Cath apparently thought Ash went with us. Ash sat there holding our table for like 45 minutes wondering what was taking Cath so long. She finally gave up and let the table go, and went wandering around looking for her, I guess. Turns out Cath had been wandering all over the Suntrust building, with our food, looking for us (it ended up the shoot got moved to the 10th floor Marriott.) Chase and I were so confused when, after the shoot, we got to our room and the girls weren’t there! It was all very silly, but we eventually all found each other and got to eat, at last, LOL.
I didn’t wear SW long. Just for the shoot, as soon as the main shoot was over I wanted to go get it off.
And the giant Marvel shoot…
That went pretty well, except Marriott security running up to us like a SWAT team telling us that people couldn’t be standing on chairs next to the railing. Safety?? Who needs safety when you’re superheroes… LOL
I threw on Black Canary so we could go wander around, shop, eat, whatever-it-is we did after that. I don’t really remember.
I don’t even remember what we did for dinner that night.
Then I wanted to put on my new WW… that was an experience.
Due to the weight of the wigs and the blisters from Zatanna the night before, I was only able to wear it for an hour or so.
I also kicked one of the wings off the back of one of my shoes pretty early on. Argh.
Chase’s distant relative… the swedish chef…
So I went and changed and put Black Canary back on, of course, LOL. Chase and I went and had a couple of drinks, while waiting on Cath.
Me and Hellboy!!
Ash had a headache so she’d gone on up to the room, but I’d promised Cath we’d have some drinks together, so Chase went on upstairs and left me and Cath to our own devices. And from that came what is probably my favourite Dragoncon story, ever.
So Cath and I had our little adventure, we had a great time… well at some point, Cath announced she wanted to see some concert so we looked for it, found out it was already over and realised Rocky Horror was about to start. We wanted to see it but Cath happened to look at her phone – and discoverd it was 2 in the morning – I’d left Chase at like 11:45 telling him we were going to have ONE drink and I’d be up.
Cath realised she had to go pay her tab at the Marriott, so we went back over there so she could do that, and they were having last call. We got finished up and said our good nights, and I went to the elevators. Well there was a TON of people waiting for the elevators – more than I’d seen all weekend, in fact, because everybody was leaving the bars!
So I decided to use my “best” judgement and walk up the stairs to our room on the 7th floor. Apparently only in my tipsy state did I think 7 flights would be fiiiiine. It took me forever to get up those stairs because I kept having to stop and rest… but I did eventually make it… completely winded and had to sit down once I got to our floor! After a few minutes I got up and stumbled towards our room (finding a 501st guitar pick on the floor along the way, cool).
I knocked on our door — no answer.
So I thought, maybe he dozed off. So I knocked harder — no answer.
I thought, maybe my glove is like, deadening the sounds, so I took it off and banged — no answer.
So I got frustrated and kicked the door, thinking, maybe he’s in the bathroom, or is really asleep, and hopefully he hasn’t passed out… LOL.
I didn’t have a room key, or my phone, or anything. I wandered to the edge of the balcony and looked over, not sure what to do… I kept walking back and forth banging on the door and looking over the edge. I did that for probably 20 minutes.
Finally I realised, I’m just going to have to go over to the girls’ room at the Hyatt. I don’t know what else to do. So I walk over to the elevators… and I see this guy standing there on the other side, looking over the edge. Yep, it’s Chase. He’d been standing there the whole time, waiting on me to come up the elevators. I couldn’t see him over there and he couldn’t see me over by the room LOL. He’d gotten worried and called Cath and Cath told him she’d just sent me to the elevators, so he’d been waiting that whole time I stumbled up the stairs and spent 20 minutes kicking the hotel room door.
(I’m sure the people in the next room LOVED me doing that…)
I was already tickled about everything so that whole experience just killed me. Yep, that’s my favourite dcon story this year.
Sunday coming tomorrow…
HAhaha holey airbrushing batman! Not only does Starfire have killer abs but she has serious cleavage! Wow!
The costumes all look great! It’s a pity the Wonder Woman stuff didn’t work out, but I really look forward to seeing the final finished outfit! It’s looking pretty good, knowing that you guys had to rush it at the last minute!
